Juan is known as the "Salsa CEO". He has been in the business of dance since 1994 - teaching, performing and choreographing. He's also the creator of the Cultural Explosion teaching system, which is featured in his Instructional DVDs. These videos are top-sellers worldwide, and the only Salsa DVDs to be sold at major retail stores such as Barnes & Noble, Blockbuster Videos, Target, and Tower Records. In his young age, Juan has already received two lifetime achievement awards for excellence in teaching and performing- one from the West Coast Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, and one from the East Coast Salsa Congress in New York. These events are two of the biggest Salsa conventions in the United States.
Juan has taught and performed all over the world: in over 30 major cities in over 20 states in the US, and in over 10 countries in 3 continents. He is in demand all over the world for his patient, thorough, and comical teaching style which many other instructors have tried to fashion themselves after. Juan is also known for his unique and creative performances with his partner Christina Piedara and his Cultural Explosion dancers.
